Cypy

Challenge

A residential design-and-build set inside a dense green bush location. The site held mature trees and ecology worth keeping, and the house had to feel less like an arrival and more like a clearing.

Approach

We worked the structure into the existing vegetation rather than around it. Earth-tone renders, a low-slung roof, and timber floors throughout warmed the interior. Unlike our black-cotton sites further north, the ground here was forgiving, which freed the brief to focus on craft and detail.

Outcome

A bush house that sits between the trees rather than above them. Cypy is the warmest interior HKM has built to date.
