- Client
- Non-profit, Christian-led
- Scope
- Phased Christian school campus
- Location
- Laikipia
Challenge
A faith-led, non-profit school on a fully black-cotton site. The campus had to come up in phases so classes could open as soon as possible, then keep building around an operating school. Foundations and drainage had to be engineered for the soil before any phase could begin.
Approach
We sequenced the campus into staged hand-overs. Phase one delivered three classrooms, the admin block, the security gate and the perimeter fence, all engineered on a stabilised foundation system designed for black cotton. Six more classrooms are now in build alongside daily school operations, with site movement, dust and noise controlled so learning continues uninterrupted.
Materials
- Reinforced strip foundations on murram fill
- Coursed stone walls
- Dark metal roofing
- Steel perimeter fencing
Outcome
Three classrooms, an admin block, gatehouse and full perimeter complete and in active use. Six classrooms in progress. Nkishon is HKM's reference for staged institutional delivery on difficult ground.
Nkishon is the institutional project we are growing alongside the school itself. Every new phase opens to children already learning on the campus.
